The City of Fort Collins recently asked its residents, “What do you hope Fort Collins will look like in twenty years?” launching a series of public information workshops for community members to give their vision and feedback to their City Plan process.
When City staff reached out to Lisa Auer, site coordinator for FLTI of Larimer County, about how FLTI alumni could contribute to City Plan, Auer saw a great opportunity for local family leaders to contribute to the future of Fort Collins. “We are so lucky to have such engaged FLTI graduates in our community, and I knew if we planned a City Plan workshop for family leaders, they would come.”
In this collaborative planning process FLTI of Colorado staff, Kyle Christensen and Patti Schmitt, facilitated discussions and activities with a group of fifteen participants that reviewed the vision of the existing City Plan, and provided the opportunity for participants to voice their priorities and suggestions for change for the next City Plan.
Participants spanned a variety of ages (ranging from 11-70 years old) and included seven family leaders currently attending FLTI of Larimer County, five FLTI alumni from previous years, and three members of the community at large.
