Arapahoe/Douglas Alumna TiffanyNoelle Brown is Still Going Strong

TiffanyNoelle Brown graduated from FLTI of Arapahoe/Douglas in 2011. Nearly seven years later, she continues to lead in her community. Brown recently wrote FLTI of Colorado, sharing some of her “micro” and “macro” leadership successes.

On the individual/family level, Brown has taken on leadership positions with her child’s elementary school that allow her to promote healthy food and activity for all students. She serves on the school health committee and is also the room parent for her student’s class. A notable success in theses roles is her implementation of the school’s first active and healthy outdoor Fall Festival!

On the “macro,” or policy-level, as a long-time foster parent, Brown was recently selected to be on the the Colorado Foster Parent Steering Committee for the Office of Youth and Family Services Division of Child Welfare. Further, she was voted in as the co-chair for the steering committee, a role in which she will serve as a voice for foster parents in the state’s child Welfare System.

Eagle County Grad Prepares Community for Emergencies

Fernando Almanza is an award-winning community leader. Almanza, with the other members of his Mobile Dispatch Team, received a Public Safety Appreciation Award in September for the vital work they do to keep their community safe.

So what happens when an established leader goes through FLTI? They increase the impact they are already having on their community!

Almanza combined his career as a 911 dispatcher with his civic project last spring. First Responders: Heroes in the Shadows sought to educate community members with hands on demonstrations regarding how to effectively communicate with dispatchers in the face of emergencies. So far, Almanza has already presented to 400 individuals in his community!
