Image Fernando CastroFLTI of Larimer County Youth Leader Speaks at Bohemian Foundation’s GiveNext Event

Fernando Castro, a 2016 graduate from FLTI of Larimer County, gave the keynote address for Bohemian Foundation’s GiveNext kick-off on October 4. More than 200 middle and high school students were in attendance.

 

 

 

FLTI of Lake County Family Leader Making Strides in Saving Lives

Kim Rodriquez graduated from FLTI of Lake County just under a year ago. In that short period of time, she has implemented and sustained a suicide prevention coalition, joined the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), and has joined the Civic Design Team for FLTI of Lake County.

Additionally, as an employee with the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment, she is working on bringing Mental Health First Aid training to the entire Mountain Region of local workforce centers.

 

NATOA AwardBe Idle Free Civic Project Gains National Attention

Graduates from FLTI of Larimer County, Julie Wenzel (2016) and Annie Bierbower (2017), recently collaborated with Poudre School District, BASE Camp, and the City of Fort Collins to produce a rap video PSA about the pollution dangers of idling vehicles.

The rap video, You Hold the Key; Be Idle Free, was recently awarded first place for Community Awareness (under $250,000 production) from the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA).

 

FLTI of Larimer County Family Leader Receives 7 News Everyday Hero Award

On September 28, Gail Engel was presented with the Channel 7 Everyday Hero award. The presentation will air on Channel 7 over several dates and times in the coming weeks: Sun. October 22 @ 10 pm; Mon. October 23 @ 11 am; Sat. October 28 @ 5 pm; Sun. October 29 @ 7 am; and Thurs. November 2 @ 11 am. 

 

FLTI of Boulder County Alum Takes on Leadership Positions

In September, the Lafayette City Council appointed Victoria Medina, 2017 FLTI of Boulder County graduate, to serve on the city’s Cultural Arts Commission. In addition, Medina is serving on the FLTI of Boulder County Civic Design Team.
